Boxing has got glorious significance at the level of
international sports. It is not only got fame at international Olympics but also
has won numerable medals for Pakistan - 43 medals out of 98 up to last 8 Asian
Games. It was only Boxing Team of Pakistan who won gold medal for Pakistan in
last Commonwealth Games. In this way it is quite evident that Boxing Team of
Pakistan is the only team that is approaching up to the level which has won
maximum medals for Pakistan.
the TOURNAMENT
4th Green Hill Cup International Boxing Tournament 2006, staged on 8 July - 14
July 2006, at KPT Sports Complex, It witnessed the galaxy of 150 athletes from
22 countries those participated in 11 weights categories, to be governed under
the IABA (International Boxing Association). The salient segment of tournament
includes: Welcome Dinner, Press Conferences, Opening Ceremony, the tournament
bouts in 11 categorize and Send-off dinner in Grand Closing / Award Ceremony.
The event enhanced and strengthened the means of harmony, peace and friendship
as well as it became the major image building source of Pakistan. It was also a
major opportunity for the hundreds of boxing lovers to witness International
teams at their home ring.
The Opening Ceremony was honoured by Chief Minister Sind accompanied with
Minister of Cultural and Sports (Sind)
The event got wide electronic (880 minutes including Prime Time 55 minutes)
coverage through renowned GEO Television network
